One
of the main activities of the IDSF is flying and the completion of battles that
are available in the mission database. As such the Tactical Officer is primarily
accountable for approving each Battle Submission Form so credit for the battles
is given to the relevant pilot. This section will detail how to submit pilot
files and how to fill out a Battle Submission Form.
All
Officers who hold the position of Squadron Commander or higher can submit pilot
files for the pilots under their command. Listed below is the chain of command
to follow when deciding whom to send their pilot files to.

If
you have sent in your pilot file to your superior and have heard nothing back
within several days, don’t panic. This could be for a number of reasons. Your
superior officer may be experiencing problems with their computers, be on leave
or it maybe with the Tactical officer awaiting approval.
The best thing that you can do is mail your superior officer to see if he has rec’d your pilot file. It is possible that the original has been lost or buried in a to-do pile. If you receive no reply from your superior officer you should follow up the chain of command as listed in the Fleet Manual.
There
are only 2 ways of reviewing a pilot file. You can load the pilot file up into
the platform it was flown in or you can use the relevant utility as outlined in
the Utilities Section of this manual.
Any
pilot files that have more than one battle flown on it will be immediately
rejected and no credit given!!!
When
sending the pilot file to the Tactical Office you will need to fill out a Battle
Submission Form. This section will detail what format the form should take and
what position can submit pilot files for.
The
first thing you will need to do is extract the Mission Scores from the pilot
file. This can be done by loading the pilot file in the game it was played in,
or using on the utilities as listed under the utilities section of this manual.
Once
this has been done a mail will need to be sent to the Tactical Officer. Below is
the preferred format for Battle Submission Forms.

Once
the Tactical Officer has received this it will be processed as quickly as
possible, usually within 72 hrs of receipt. Once processed a reply will be
mailed to the superior officer and pilot concerned. As well as the battle being
shown on the relevant pilots record.
You
have reviewed the pilot file and filled out a Battle Submission Form, buy where
does it go know and whom can you submit for. The table below details who can
submit for whom:

Note
that Command Staff and their attaches are not included on this. They should send
their battle submissions directly to the Tactical Officer using the format
detailed above.
TIE
Fighter, X-Wing Alliance: If
more than one mission has been skipped due to a bug, then it is deemed invalid
and credit will be given for it.
X-Wing
Vs TIE Fighter, Balance of Power: When
flying these battles the included .LST file. If the pilot has used a different .LST,
which prevents you from seeing individual scores the pilot file is deemed
invalid and no credit will be given.
In
most X-Wing Alliance missions you will get bonus points. These are to be
included on the mission points total as these are considered as the
secondary/bonus goal score as in TIE Fighter.
All
Squadron Commanders and other officers submitting Battle Submission Forms for
X-Wing Alliance are urged to use the utility mentioned in the Utilities Section
with great care.
While
the Tactical Officer will be reviewing/approving all Battle Submission Forms
that do not contain high scores, audits will be performed at random. This will
be the case on all submissions containing High Scores.
If
you receive an audit notification, please reply in a timely manner with the
pilot file for that Submission form. For this reason you should always keep the
pilot files that are used until the Submission is approved. Having said that
most Squadron Commanders etc like to keep the pilot files just incase they are
ever required again (this is possible). Remember the quicker you reply the
quicker the battle will be approved, except in the case of a suspicious file in
which case you will be notified.
If
the Audit request has not been replied to within 5 days the battle will
automatically be denied.
